Stages of floor restoration:
1. Preparation – Over the years, the wooden floor in your home is subjected to wear and tear regularly. It might be strained, split, damaged, or anything else. Floor restoration is the ultimate and regular requirement for all kinds of floors. Timber floor restoration is a simple three step process which can be achieved within a matter of hours or days. Under floor preparation, the loops, holes, and differences in the floor are filled in to make it look even and flawless before proceeding to next step. Electricity and water supply to the area is checked to run machines.
2. Floor Sanding – It is the process of removing the top layer of the wood floor using sandpaper like abrasive material. Then using the medium grade paper, the entire floor is vacuumed, the nail holes are filled in, and then starts the fine sanding. It is dry form of sanding and helps to remove excessive fillers and all the traces of previous coarse sanding.
3. Floor Polishing & Staining – After sanding, a special base coat which seals the timber and raises the grain. They are treated again, before applying the second and third coat. A few hours gap and someday 1 day gap is given in between these coatings to let them dry. After that, the waterbased coating or Polyurethane coating is applied that dries withing 8 hours but takes around a week to harden and become durable. Once this step is done, the floor is laid to rest and the end results are awestrucking.
